2017 July - Salcombe to Yealm

Image
The Yealm is another beautiful place with great walks. We stayed here for a couple of weeks and went back to London but had the opportunity to explore the area. Noss Mayo is a particularly pretty village.

2017 July 17 a weekend visit by the family !

Image
A somewhat complicated visit from our family. We sailed from Salcombe back to Dartmouth. Laura, Abbi and Tim then drove down from London and arrived in Dartmouth after the water taxi has stopped for the day.  After a very eerie crossing of the Dart in our dinghy they reached the boat well after midnight. The following day we sailed from Dartmouth around to Salcombe, spent the weekend in Salcombe and then went back to Dartmouth by taxi and home to Lightwater ! A lovely weekend but unfortunately the weather was typically English !

2017 July 12 - Dartmouth to Salcombe

Image
Salcombe holds many happy memories for Liz of very happy family holidays. It's now a very expensive place , frequented by Range Rover driving Londoners but in spite of that (and out of the school holidays particularly !) it is a truly stunning place to be.

2017 July 8 - Royal Naval College Open Day

Image
We were really lucky to be in Dartmouth for the Royal Naval College Open Day - even the weather was gorgeous. The college is a fabulous building , steeped in history and is where Princess Elizabeth met the then Philip whilst he was at the college.

2017 July 7 Dartmouth - doing the "Round Robin"

Image
The "r ound robin" is a circular trip involving taking the steam train from Kingswear to  Paignton , the bus from Paignton to Kingsbridge and then taking a riverboat from Kingsbridge back down to Dartmouth. We would highly recommend it as an excellent day out.

2017 July 6 - Weymouth , across Lyme bay and on to Dartmouth.

Image
The 40 miles across from Weymouth to Dartmouth is a longish passage but feels like we have actually arrived in the beautiful West Country.

2017 - July time to leave Royal Clarence

Image
After 2 very happy years with Amy Clair moored at Royal Clarence marina in Gosport we decided that it was time to cut the shore lines (metaphorically !) and head West. Rob Jezard and his team at RCM have been great over the years and we would highly recommend the marina to anyone in the Portsmouth area.
