It was a beautiful day 25'c, clear blue skies and low humidity so we decided it would be a good idea to tackle the 700m steep climb up to the look out point. After several stops we eventually made it to the top . The climb is very steep with crumbly steps that are certainly not for the faint hearted but we were rewarded with spectacular views from Lantau/Discovery bay across to HK.
Our first visit to HK en route to Sydney. We stayed on Lantau Island which is where the airport is located and is either a short drive or a ferry ride over the HK central. We stayed at the Auberge in Discovery bay. The hotel didn't disappoint, a great room with a shower that had panoramic views over the bay. Discovery Bay itself is a lovely place. Feels a bit like a Sunny/Asian version of Clapham with lots of young'ish European professionals and young families. Not the frantic HK that we expected. We stay in HK itself on the way back.
