A little busy in the lock at Arzal on the Vilaine this morning....

We decided to go for the 8.00am lock to give us a good tidal window down to the Bay of Quiberon - but lots of others had the same idea ! As soon as the lock gates opened it was every man for himself but it all worked out without incident somehow. On the other side it was a similar story , the lock gates opened and a Le Mans start ensued but once again everyone seemed to come through it unscathed. It seems very true about the English vs other nations when it comes to queuing...

La Roche Bernard - such a pretty little town, full of character (and a rather sombre past in the french revolution!)   Amy Clair moored at the very end of the pontoon.  The old port area is very pretty and has some beautiful old sailing boats We were at first reluctant to swim but it was so hot and most of the local population seemed to be in the water - so we went it. It was lovely if a little disconcerting, having a slightly brown tinge. But just what we needed on this very hot day .
