The sailing adventures continue May 2019

We said our farewells to Laura and Tim as they head back down-under, and to Abs who's staying in London!! and now we're back onboard Amy Clair in Brittany. Arrived on May 27th having tried the fast ferry from Cherbourg - longer drive but MUCH quicker crossing. Started to realise, after we got here, the long list of things I'd left behind which includes the spare duvet covers, thermals(!) and even my swimming things!! Oh well, lovely berth on the Camoel side of the river with shore power and water so a step up from last year.

Spent the first few days sorting, tidying and fixing but decided to delay departure day in view of the french bank holiday weekend, coinciding with fantastic sunny weather. A good decision as the barrage was absolutely heaving with boats from Thursday to Sunday.

After successfully finding a costume of sorts (thanks to Super U!) we found the beach at Damgan and enjoyed the early summer sunshine - 30C!

A somewhat eventful exit when we left the Vilaine on Sunday evening as we managed to lose the Danbuoy overboard on the lock (entirely my fault) which then proceeded to inflate! Keith managed to retrieve it from the water thankfully and hoping it can be recommissioned/packed. I call it an educational experiment - we know it works now! Then when we got the other side of the lock it was Picadilly circus with 100 boats waiting to come back in! Finally got ourselves a space on the pontoon ready to sail downriver in the morning but 2 separate boats seemed to want to play games - the first totally messed up rafting next to us (luckily no damage), the second, a big flashy racing yacht, took our flagpole off as it departed! They were extremely embarrassed and apologetic though and sent us a bottle of wine via the harbour master! Sailing - there's always something...!
